Recently, a train loaded with 210 tons of Yan’an apples slowly departed from Yan’anbei Railway Station’s freight yard, traveling southward. After gathering and assembling at Xi’anguojigang Railway Station with other goods, it joined the CRE Train (Xi’an) bound for destinations such as Vietnam and Russia.

The operation of this special train further establishes seamless connectivity between Yan’an and Xi’an, forming an international logistics corridor directly reaching Europe and Asia. It is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing the brand influence of Yan’an apples, expanding foreign trade, and supporting the development of Yan’an as a leading area for high-quality apple production nationwide.

To ensure the success of this inaugural export shipment, the Yan’an Railway Transportation Depot organized technical experts to proactively engage with customers, conducting on-site measurements of packaging specifications and determining the most effective loading plan for the goods. Refrigerated containers were used for transportation to effectively guarantee the quality of apple transport. Considering the unique nature of the goods, protective padding was placed inside the containers in advance to prevent damage. Following the principles of “priority for allocation of space, priority for loading and unloading, and priority for transport,” dedicated officials were assigned to monitor and guide the entire process, optimizing transportation organization to ensure the smooth operation of the train.

The soil, climate, sunlight, and rainfall of Yan’an are highly suitable for apple cultivation. Combined with modern cultivation techniques such as drip irrigation and dwarf planting promoted in recent years, Yan’an apples have earned widespread acclaim from consumers both domestically and internationally for their unique taste and nutritional value. Apple cultivation has become a distinctive industry in Yan’an. It is noted that Yan’an has a planting area of 3.31 million mu of land, producing 4.45 million tons annually. The revenue from apple sales constitutes 27% of the average disposable income for local farmers. Exporting apples via the CRE Train (Xi’an) is a significant initiative for Yan’an, a revolutionary base area, to deeply integrate into the “Belt and Road” Initiative (BRI), actively explore international markets, and promote economic development.

“The high-quality apples from Yan’an boarding the CRE Train can reach Vietnam for sale in 8 to 10 days. This not only shortens transportation time to ensure the freshness of the apples but also significantly reduces the rate of goods damage, further enhancing the market competitiveness and added value of Yan’an apples,” explained Guo Liang, the general manager of the Yan’an Baota District Supply and Marketing Company. In the future, they plan to expand efficient, low-cost, and service-oriented international trade channels through the CRE Train (Xi’an) on the basis of their existing business.
