Since the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) took effect on January 1, 2022, trade between China and Vietnam has been steadily increasing. The cross-border container freight trains shuttling between the two countries have injected a strong impetus into the development of import and export trade. Over the past two years, Guangxi has operated 382 cross-border container freight trains between China and Vietnam, transporting 205,400 tons of import and export goods. This represents a 69% increase compared to the total volume in the two years of 2020 and 2021. Specifically, the volume of exported goods reached 129,500 tons, showing a 77% increase compared to the total volume in 2020 and 2021.
Looking ahead, CR-Nanning will continue to promote the high-quality development of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, strengthen the creation of a logistics hub connecting the international and domestic markets of RCEP countries, and ensure the smooth operation of the industrial and supply chains. This effort aims to make a greater contribution to the construction of a major freight corridor for ASEAN countries and other countries along the “Belt and Road” Initiative.
