On December 21, the newly built Xuyong-Bijie section of the Longchang-Huangtong Railway commenced operations, marking a significant achievement in the construction of the western route of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.

The Xuyong-Bijie section of the Longchang-Huangtong Railway spans across Sichuan, Yunnan, and Guizhou provinces. It starts from Xuyongbei Railway Station in Xuyong County, Luzhou City, Sichuan Province, passes through Zhenxiong County and Weixin County in Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province, and reaches Bijiedong Railway Station in Bijie City, Guizhou Province. The total length of the line is 189 kilometers, with a designed speed of 120 kilometers per hour, making it a Grade I electrified single-track railway.

The Xuyong-Bijie section of the Longchang-Huangtong Railway traverses through old revolutionary base areas such as Xuyong, Weixin, and Bijie, as well as areas with ethnic minorities such as Miao and Yi. In the initial period of operation, the railway authorities arranged for the operation of two pairs of normal-speed trains between Xuyong in Sichuan and Guiyang in Guizhou. The shortest travel time is 6 hours and 30 minutes, significantly facilitating the travel of local residents.

Longchang-Huangtong Railway is a crucial component of the western route of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. It provides a convenient railway passage for the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle to reach northern Guizhou, Nanning and the Beibu Gulf area in Guangxi. The opening of the section will improve local transportation, enhance the investment environment, promote coordinated development in the regional economy and society, consolidate the achievements in poverty alleviation, contribute to rural revitalization, and facilitate cultural exchanges among various ethnic groups.
