Erenhot Railway Port’s Annual Throughput Volume Exceeds 17 Million Tons in 2023

     In 2023, the throughput volume and the number of trains handed over at the Erenhot Railway Port achieved synchronized growth, both reaching historic highs. The import and export freight volume exceeded 17 million tons for the first time, with a total of 17.0293 million tons completed for the year, representing a year-on-year increase of 28.4%. The total number of handed-over trains for the year was 16,058, showing a year-on-year increase of 20.6%.

  According to statistics, the Erenhot Railway Port handled 14.3608 million tons of imported goods and 2.6685 million tons of exported goods in 2023. The port received 5,357 broad-gauge trains, averaging 14.7 trains per day, an increase of 3.4 trains compared to the previous year. It also received 2,670 standard-gauge trains, averaging 7.3 trains per day, an increase of 0.4 trains compared to the previous year. The highest daily number of broad-gauge trains reached 17, and the highest daily number of standard-gauge trains reached 9, breaking historical records for the average daily number and the highest daily number of trains handed over since the establishment of the Erenhot Railway Port.

  CR-Huhhot comprehensively promoted the implementation of port transportation and production. By integrating the advantages of resources both domestically and internationally, they formed an interactive working pattern, effectively released the capacity of the central route of the CRE train, and maximally ensured the safety, smoothness, and orderly operation of port transportation.

  In advancing the expansion and quality improvement of the CRE train, CR-Huhhot strengthened the upgrading and renovation of port equipment, significantly improving the quality of train formations and the capacity of container ground storage. This enabled timely receiving and departure of goods at the port. In 2023, Erenhot Railway Port handled 3,294 inbound and outbound CRE trains, comprising 144,310 cars, representing a year-on-year increase of 30.8% and 41.2%, respectively. This achieved a significant improvement in the service quality of the central route of the CRE train.
