On December 25, according to sources from CR-Chengdu, since the full operation of the Chengdu-Kunming Railway on December 26, 2022, an average of 41 passenger trains have been operated daily. The highest daily passenger count reached 104,000, with a total of over 20 million passengers sent throughout the year.

The Chengdu-Kunming Railway is a crucial component of the railway corridor connecting the southwestern region of China to ASEAN countries and is a key project for the development of the western region of the country. In the year since its opening, Fuxing EMU trains have reached areas such as Ebian County and Ganluo County in the heartland of the Daliangshan and Xiaoliangshan Mountains, significantly improving passenger travel efficiency by 3.6 times. CR-Chengdu has transformed railway transportation in the Panzhihua-Xichang region from a single line to a “single-double parallel” system, greatly facilitating the travel of local residents and the transportation of goods. This development has stimulated resource development along the route, injecting new vitality into supporting the accelerated development of ethnic regions, consolidating the achievements of rural revitalization, and promoting high-level opening up.

In November of this year, a “test train for the blueprint of rural revitalization by railways,” carrying agricultural products from Liangshan Prefecture, set off from Xichangnan Railway Station to Ningbo, Zhejiang. This marked the first instance of Liangshan Prefecture’s agricultural products being transported out of the mountains to the eastern coastal areas through a railway container train, effectively supporting the economic development of the region.
