Recently, CR has been closely monitoring changes in weather and market demand. Scientific adjustments to capacity arrangements have been made, leveraging industry advantages to increase support for the transportation of key materials such as grain, cotton, and oil. This effort aims to contribute to economic and social development as well as the production and living needs of residents.

In response to the demand for the outbound transportation of grain in the northeastern region, CR promptly issued dispatch orders, implementing measures such as emptying entire trains of covered cars and substituting car types. They intensified the allocation of transportation capacity to the northeastern region, ensuring smooth flow at border checkpoints like Shanhaiguan and facilitating the rapid entry and southward transportation of grain in the northeast. CR-Harbin opened key grain train routes from Fulitun to Qianjin Town, and Suihua to Jiamusi, among others, and implemented “passengerization” of freight trains in key grain source areas such as Fujin, Shuanglong Mountain, Xinyouyi, and Jiansanjiang. This effort compressed the time for the grain to enter the port and pass through customs by nearly 10 hours. From November 1, 2023, to January 4, 2024, the national railway transported a cumulative total of 24.51 million tons of grain, with a year-on-year growth of 9.6%, showing a positive development trend.

In 2023, major cotton-producing areas in Xinjiang, such as Korla, Aksu, and Kashgar, experienced harvests. To ensure that the new cotton is transported out of Xinjiang as quickly as possible, helping local farmers increase income, CR-Urumqi set up loading points in the main cotton-producing areas, opened green transportation channels, and took measures like group assembly, thus providing key support in terms of transportation capacity and capability. They also collaborated with the China National Cotton Exchange and cotton production and sales enterprises to implement strategic cooperation for the “road-to-rail” transportation of cotton from Xinjiang. This initiative provides a one-stop “door-to-door” comprehensive service for road-rail intermodal transportation and creates a fast cotton transportation channel.

Referred to as the blood of industries, oil plays a significant role in the functioning of the economy and society. CR-Huhhot collaborated with units such as Wuhai Oil Depot of Inner Mongolia Petrochemical of SINOPEC and Inner Mongolia Dongwu Railway Co., Ltd. to operate special oil transportation trains. This effort effectively served local energy security, actively facilitated the export of diesel oil to Mongolia, and contributed to local economic and social development. From November 1, 2023, to January 4, 2024, the national railway transported a cumulative total of 20.14 million tons of oil, with a year-on-year growth of 4.4%.
